Scott McBrien

University of Maryland

After transferring from West Virginia University, Scott started in every game played over the next two seasons and led the Terps to a 27-6 record with victories and MVP awards in both the Peach and Gator Bowls. In 2002, the Terps finished 2nd in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and 12th in the nation. In 2003, the Terps finished second in the ACC and 25th in the nation. After college, Scott was signed by the Green Bay Packers as a National Football League (NFL) free agent. While with the Packers, Scott studied by the side of Super Bowl Champion and future Hall of Fame Quarterback Brett Favre learning how to manage the game and become a successful quarterback at the most elite level. During the spring of 2005, Scott was allocated to NFL Europe by the Green Bay Packers and was signed by the Rhein Fire to play in Dusseldorf Germany. Following his stay in Germany, Scott was then signed by the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL) where he played for two final seasons before hanging up the cleats.

High School

A 1999 graduate of DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, MD, Scott led the Stags to a 13-0 season and a No. 13 national ranking by USA Today as a senior in 1999. He completed 90-of-131 passes (.687) for 1,878 yards and 25 touchdowns with no interceptions that year. He was named a 2 time All-Met selection by the Washington Post.


Coaching Experience

Scott has been coaching kids of all ages for over 10 years now. In High School, Scott worked with quarterbacks at Bill McGregor’s All-Star football camp each summer. In college, Scott not only worked with the quarterbacks at Ralph Friedgen’s University of Maryland Football Camp each summer but often worked and volunteered at numerous camps throughout the state of Maryland. If he wasn’t making an appearance as a guest speaker, he was working with quarterbacks across the State.


Zac Hart

SMPA Coach Zac HartZac Hart was born and raised in Kensington, Maryland where he played youth football for Maplewood Boys Club. Zac attended high school at St. Johns in Washington, DC where he was named to the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) All-Conference team and threw for 1,100 yards and 11 touchdowns as a senior. Zac was then presented the opportunity to walk on to the University of Miami Hurricanes football team as a Quarterback in 1996. Through his hard work and dedication he was then placed on scholarship as a Sophomore. Zac closed out his college career at Miami victorious in the 1996 Carquest Bowl and the 1998 Micron PC Bowl. Zac now serves as a senior account executive at his family’s insurance agency in Bethesda, MD.

JD Ricca

SMPA Coach JD RiccaFirst Team All-Met QB in 2002 out of St. John’s College High School – threw for over 2,300 yards and 22 touchdowns as a senior. Led the Cadets to the playoffs in back-to-back years. Went on to attend Hampden-Sydney College where he was a 3 year starter setting numerous school and league records. Was All Conference for three years in a row and was also named Virginia College Player of the Year twice (2003, 2005) and ODAC Player of the Year in 2005 and gained All-American honors as well. In his 2005 campaign Ricca threw for over 3,800 yards and 43 touchdowns in only 10 ten games finishing up with the sixth best single season passing efficiency rating ever in college football. He lives and works in Bethesda and is currently the head coach for the “Cub” team at Maplewood.

Collegiate Awards – VA State Player of the Year (2003, 2005). Dudley Award Winner. Don Henson 2nd Team All American. All Conference (2003-2005). 1st team All South (2003, 2005.) ODAC Player of the Year (2005).

Coaching Experience – Coached briefly with Good Counsel and was the QB coach at Langley High School. Currently coaches at Maplewood.
